Allison Inquiry | Nathalie Barbe | Day 2 September 9th, 2026
Nathalie Barbe, who turned 50 on the day she testified, is a mother of four and grandmother of six from the upper Gatineau region of Quebec. Before the pandemic she worked as a server, then as a security guard in hospitals, long-term care homes, a grocery store and a vaccination clinic. She describes herself as an active, community-minded single mother who loved cooking and dancing. Barbe received three Moderna doses, on October 16, November 13 and December 17, 2021, because her employer required them and she could not afford to lose her job.
After the first two doses she had fever, muscle pain, light sensitivity and poor sleep, and after the third she describes chest pressure, burning feet, weak hands needing carpal tunnel surgery, daily vomiting, migraines, blurred vision and vision loss, facial drooping, nerve compressions, an aneurysm, fibromyalgia, and the end of her menstrual cycle. She says her doctor of 40 years called her a rare and complex case, that she waited years for a neurosurgeon and specialist care in Montreal and paid for private injections, and that a spike protein blood test was positive. She has been recognized by Retraite Québec as disabled since 2024, and describes shame, lost autonomy and a hypersensitivity that makes even a touch painful.
Her testimony is given in French with English interpretation.
