Publié le 08 Oct 2026 / Dans Nouvelles et politique

John Grant, 74, of Westlock, Alberta, testifies as the final witness of Day 1. A married father and grandfather with 40 years in construction, he was working full time on rental properties and a small sawmill, and leading a youth club with 25 to 30 volunteers. He had rarely been sick in 50 years.

He chose to be vaccinated out of a desire to honour authority, and within two weeks of his second dose he developed nosebleeds, petechiae, bleeding gums and blood blisters throughout his mouth and body. His platelets, normally about 154, fell to near zero and he was diagnosed with ITP. He describes 12 days in hospital, steroid treatment, weekly IV drugs, blood in his urine, and doctors telling him they had never seen anything like it. He also developed type 2 diabetes requiring insulin. Months later he lost his breath and was found to have deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary emboli, leaving scar tissue in his lungs. Grant explains how the injuries cut his working days to a fraction, forced the sale of his rural property, and ended plans such as canoe trips.

He speaks of the strength he found in his Christian faith and of forgiving those who made the decisions.
