🕌 In this special address recorded from his home in Trinidad on the 28th day of Rabi’ al-Awwal 1448 AH, Sheikh Imran N. Hosein reflects on the model of Islamic scholarship that shaped his life and announces his vision for the establishment of a new Ansari Institute of Islamic Studies.
📘 The lecture begins with an update on Sheikh Imran’s upcoming journey to Moscow for a conference on multipolarity. He recalls his previous meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and explains how that encounter eventually led him to write The Qur’an and Russia’s Destiny, which he hopes to launch in Moscow.
🌙 A major focus of this lecture is Sheikh Imran’s intellectual and scholarly lineage. He explains that his approach to Islamic scholarship was deeply influenced by Dr. Muhammad Iqbal and transmitted to him through his teacher, Maulana Dr. Fazlur Rahman Ansari. Sheikh Imran describes this model as one that turns to the Qur’an not only for theology and law, but also to understand the reality of the modern world.
📖 The discussion then develops into Sheikh Imran’s own experience at the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies, where he studied under Maulana Ansari and later briefly served as head of the institute. He reflects on the decline, in his view, of the scholarly vision that his teacher had originally sought to establish.
🕊️ The lecture also provides updates on several forthcoming books, including Dajjal’s Footprints in Time, The Qur’an, the Crucifixion and the Return of Jesus, Gog and Magog in the Qur’an and Hadith, and his current work, The Qur’an and Pakistan’s Destiny, which he says is dedicated to former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
⭐ The session further introduces Sheikh Imran’s plan for a new online platform containing his books, essays, and writings through a small monthly subscription. He explains that this platform will also make available his written proposal for the Ansari Institute of Islamic Studies, a project intended to revive the model of scholarship associated with Iqbal and Maulana Ansari for a new generation.
