David Abdullah is not only a champion of the working-man, but also one of the best-read politicians and thinkers in the Caribbean. He is the political leader of the Movement for Social Justice, and while his political party does not attract large electoral success, his importance remains in the intellectual impact he can potentially make. This is the first of several sessions I would like to have with him. We have much in common since I follow a Prophet who famously declared: "Pay the labourer his wage before his sweat dries on his forehead."

The book referred to is BLACK JACOBINS written by CLR James: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Jacobins. It remains perhaps, the best scholarly history of the Haitian revolution in which Black Slaves defeated the French army and liberated Haiti from French rule.
