This all good in theory, but investing in China has its down side as well. Businesses have found when they have tried to cash in and leave the country, only to find all kinds of road blocks to getting your money out.
A true alternative to the US dollar would be a gold backed BRIC dollar for international transactions. Countries like China could continue to use their own currency for domestic transactions.
