Nice video, interesting piece of engineering. Must've taken a chunk of time to move and install on a new location, making it vulnerable to counterattacks. Nowadays artillery is much more mobile.

Yeah I kind of hated watching this video...... There is JUST so much fucking around.... to manufacture the gun, to transport it across the seas, and to transport it and set it up on the battle fields... and to then start lobbing shells onto the heads and buildings of the enemy.... It's just endless amounts of hard work that drags on forever, time, after time, after time.... This was the main reason for showing it....

However - in not knowing much about so much - I did a search for all the images, -- 12 inch Siege Howitzer, 1916 -- There were a great deal many models and calibers - 12", 15" etc., and they were sort of the same model, and some of them had big wheel sets etc... So it wasn't just the semi-portable fixed artillery units....

Indeed, this version was probably used when counterattacks were unlikely, or at borders to keep the neighbor in check.
