100-million-year-old dinosaur footprint accidentally discovered in restaurant
A restaurant in Leshan City, China has inadvertently become a major archaeological site after a customer happened to spot something unusual about the floor in the outdoor courtyard. Strange depressions in the natural stone prompted the diner to consult experts, who confirmed that they made up a dinosaur footprint dating back to the Cretaceous period.
Using a 3D scanner, scientists were able to determine that the tracks were made by sauropods - large herbivores with long necks, thought to weigh over 900kg. It’s unknown if the sauropod in question had a particular fondness for sweet and sour noodles, but to be fair dinosaurs had to eat out somewhere.
