i think it would be funny if someone were to use a gift card to tip but the gift card was empty. but i'm an asshole that way. lol my nearest coffe shop expects a tip when i go there to get a coffe, but when i get a coffee from MacDonalds they don't ask for tips ever. sure beans and brews has better coffee, but it's really not that much better.
it makes sense that it's an incentive. if they like money they will do their best to give you service lol can you imagine if prostitution work like this? she will have earned her pay instead of just laying down like a beached wale.
I don't eat out unless I can afford it.. I always tip well. . prefer young female American servers handling my food.. IMMIGRANT SERVERS? yippee I get to keep half of my tip money.. "cheaper labor" remember? don't tell me cheaper labor then call me a racist.. ;)
I had an immigrant server who acted and looked more like an American waitress than an actual American waitress.. she was like an actress.. she got 75%..
yeah, it's just an easy way for the employers to not pay their staff a decent wage. they can afford it they just would rather do it this way because it keips the waiters in line to treat the customers really well. which there is something to be said on this idea. because it does work. but were soon on our way out of this kind of work because automation and ppl keep this crona fear porn on the general public.
this is true. however in other countries the restaurants actually pay their waiters a decent wage so tipping is not an issue there. but there is something to be said about tipping being a good thing, because the waiters are not only trying to treat you the best they can, but this is a great incentive for them to work harder because if they treat the ppl good they might get good tips. and the funny thing is they actually got paid much higher in tips than the pay it would be if it was all done by wages.

When they go out for you and try harder then I tip. If I get pissed at poor service then I don't tip and if it is automatic I raise up.

Tipping blew my mind first time I visited the USA. It just doesn't happen here.
It’s because tipping helps the waiters because waiters only get paid off of tips.
