Why Pakistan opposes normalization with Israel

Donald Trump says certain Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, should normalize relations with Israel and join the Abraham Accords as Washington tries to advance talks with Iran.

Zahid Mahmood, Defence and Security Analyst, Principal Institute of Peace and Conflicts Studies Islamabad, says Pakistan’s position is rooted in its support for Palestinian self-determination, the two-state solution, pre-1967 borders, and Al-Quds Sharif as the capital. He argues that the Abraham Accords do not address the root causes of the conflict and may serve Israel’s regional ambitions instead.
