The U.S. Congress is holding its annual "Days of Remembrance," a taxpayer-funded event mandated by Public Law 96-388 to commemorate the Holocaust. Criticism is mounting over the event's exclusive focus, which purposely excludes other genocide victims from the same WWII era. The law also funded the U.S. Holocaust Museum, which initially excluded references to the Armenian Genocide. Other unremembered victims cited include 20 million Chinese civilians killed by Imperial Japan, 15-18 million Soviet civilians, millions of non-Jewish Poles, and the Roma.
