I ran into this whilst working with low-SES kids. Mothers would whine and complain that they needed help, but then would--often severely--critique the help they were getting as not being customized to their particular desires. It wasn't enough that we volunteered to watch ONE kid for an hour, we also had to buy dinner for that one and all his half-siblings while she went to the club. Had one broad who sent a Christmas wish list for the pricey toys her kids wanted, but didn't want the toys so much as the money they cost so she could get them; and no she didn't want anyone to go with her to the toy store to help her buy them--why would you ask?

The mother instinct makes women very different humans - only focus is their kids (good), but they lose all regard for other factors/principles (often not so good). Depending on how she was raised, the victim mentality can really thrive at that point.
