US acted against president Petro because of his position on Palestine – Colombian FM to RT

Under Gustavo Petro's leadership, Bogota was blocked from joining Trump's anti-cartel initiative called 'Shield of the Americas'.

Colombia's president was himself put under U.S. sanctions, with Washington claiming he failed to curb drug trafficking in his country.

Nevertheless, Bogota's incoming leadership has announced it will join Trump's initiative as soon as the new government is formed.

RT sat down with Colombia's Foreign Minister for an exclusive interview. She says Washington's backlash against Gustavo Petro was caused by his position on Israel and Palestine.
