Trump administration to slash journalist visa durations

Major German media companies and associations have called on Chancellor Friedrich Merz to provide political and diplomatic support, urging him to intervene with the US over its planned reduction of journalist visa durations, set to take effect next month.

Under the new Trump administration policy, standard foreign media visas will be shortened from five years to 240 days, while visas for Chinese journalists will be capped at just 90 days.
