Yeah - I dunno - I was hitching rides to places that were 1000K away when I was 14. Pretty much everyone was really good. There was only 1 or 2 that wanted to show me their porn collection in the glove box.... I didn't have a knife to stab them, but aside from the offer, they behaved themselves....

I was raised by parents who specialised in neglignce and their own addictions - I can jest about it.... The virtual total absence of any responsible parenting....

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: being 14 and hitching rides or riding buses etc. is one thing having a 10 yo or younger doing it is insane.... you are asking for bad things to happen, usually the kid getting hopelessly lost.
