These women look like they are playing charades, using the content of late 1940's, 50's and early 60's women's magazines, as their base line for a reality check.
You know, when the rest of the planet was bombed into oblivion, they had nothing left in terms of manufacturing and industry and the USA and similar, were fat cats raking in all the cash from the global economy and the export markets.
So the indolent consumerisim - in the cash flooded market, from a one way export to the rest of the world, was the norm, for a little while...
Then the great big fat cat US industries got under cut by the Japanese car makers and all the "Jap Crap" then the japs got much better....
Then the global manufacturing started to come up to speed and they were importing into the USA and then manufacturing thier product in the USA... and gutting the US manufacturers.
So this indolent image of the home maker wife with all the mod cons, was only a product created by the advertising industries of the times, and now this image is being upheld as the "good old days of yore" - when it's a reproduction of a fake image, from a economic historical glitch.
@KRONAG: Good point - and the feminists are shrieking at the women who want to get married, stay at home and raise a family and the women who want to have a family are telling the shrieking faminists to fuck off..... However your statement about this clubby reenacting the charades of a bygone era is well taken.
