Published on 03 Jun 2023 / In Film & Animation

I've been in my workshop making things ever since, and the covid lockdown was the perfect time to make some new videos, trying to pass on some of what I've learnt. So if you're interested do try my new 'Secret Life of Components'
These old films were remastered and upscaled by Norman Margolus from a 1987 PAL tape made directly from the 16mm print, using machine learning software from Topaz labs. Commentary added in Feb 2021.
View all 18 episodes of the series and read about their background on my website:

Note on the rendition of Take 5 as the outro tune; the musicians either have to be masters for turning a 5/4 song into a 4/4 song, or inept in not being able to play in 5/4. I'm betting they couldn't feel the 5/4 meter and did a bunch of extra work to change the meter to 4/4.

Hmmmm as usual, it's another thing I didn't notice.... My own inept conclusion is that its Reggae. Your Right! It's actually in the end title - "Music - By Inept Musicians who cannot read or play 5/4". I didn't detect any tonal drift from an altered timeing - the mechanical play speed. At 0.75 - the tonal shift was dragging... obiously not the right play back speed, but at 1.25 speed - it sounded plausibly in tune etc.. and MAYBE it was mechanically played at a slow down speed for the title.... I am a bit Ofay with music production - but as always, there are many, many more experienced, and abled bodied people with far more expertise on so many other things than me....
