Its actually insane to me that TFM just ignores/handwaves that the stock market is at historical highs and just says it's "fake and gay" with absolutely no explanation.
Also:
Short answer: a nuclear weapon can severely damage or reshape parts of a mountain, but it would not literally “erase” a large mountain in the way people sometimes imagine.
What actually happens depends on the yield of the weapon and the geology of the mountain:
A nuclear detonation releases energy in an extremely concentrated burst. That energy vaporizes rock near the blast point, melts surrounding material, and creates a massive shockwave that fractures rock far beyond the fireball. In underground or surface tests, this can create huge craters and collapse large sections of terrain.
For example, the U.S. “Sedan” test at the Nevada Test Site (1962) used a relatively small nuclear device by modern standards and still moved about 11 million tons of earth, creating a crater over 100 meters deep and nearly 400 meters wide. That’s significant—but it’s basically a bite out of the ground, not destruction of a mountain.
