@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: actually I will be riding my gas powered bicycle 11 miles to the auto parts.. for a 32 dollar disposable timing cover.. THEN after my return trip I will be loosening up the oil pan sos I can install the timing cover.. then I need to change the intake plenum gaskets also.. all so I can make it back to work by Tuesday maybe.. in America we have to work our arses off.. little time for fantasy weird stuff..

@jimbennett: @jimbennett: IF your not got huge amounts of distance through high density traffic areas, have you looked at getting a good basic 250cc motorbike? e.g. The Suzuki TU250X or a Honda CB 250 - http://moto.zombdrive.com/honda/honda-cb250/ The basic no frills type bikes tend to be the best value,

@jimbennett: Yeah I have to build a gas powered bicycle engine, the NEW bog stock one, well there is room for improvement , like stripping it and testing the crank shaft for run out, and installing GOOD QUALITY high tensile bolts, and studs, with washers and thread locker, and then checking the ignition system - and doing lots of little bits of magic to make it a dead set reliable engine - that given all that can be done, will be a LONG lasting engine. Fuck performance = short life. If you want to fly up hills buy a motorcycle. So a good little "engine assist" bicycle is the go. The legislation in Australia is pretty fucked - not that it's necesarily bad, but I'd rather a bigger motor say 100cc, instead of 50cc, and to run it with a small carburettor and in combustion and gas flow efficient, way, but a LOW powered efficient engine. Like when it's 50 Km (say 30 miles) each way, well it's hard on a small higher out put engine, where as a larger engine - still putting out the same amount of power as a 50 CC engine - has a relatively easy time of it. Plus the road laws are just fucked - your limited to an output of 250W.... Great. Riding through the open plains with a 40 Kmh (30 MPH) head wind...

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: yea, thats the only concern.. The bike is for emergency pusposes.. but the law around here is difficult.. I have a license to drive so .. not a problem so far.. America sucks..

@jimbennett: One of the things I figured out is that bicycles (for arguments sake) are basically made to take up to around 100Kg of person and that person puts out 200W of power on a continuous basis. The "silly people" put engines into frames and drive trains (hub, spokes, rims and tyres) that were really only designed for the minimal power of a person, and these motors - the petrol ones, can be 2, 3, 4 or 5 or even 7 Horse Power. Given that it is 745W to the HP, even a 2.5 HP motor puts out about 3000W of power and that is 15 x as much as a person... So when the frame buckles, cracks and breaks, or the spokes start ripping out / breaking in the back wheel - and down you go and there is a car or a truck coming up behind you - you know it is not a great idea. I think this is why most of the legislation is called "Pedal Assist" - not "Motorised Bicycle".

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: I have a schwinn Wayfarer 700c bike with a 66cc gas engine kit.. the kit cost 130 I think many years ago.. The bike will sit for years and then something happens where I need it and it starts right up.. I run the carb dry after use.. I needed my transmission rebuilt and had to drop my truck off 30 miles away.. then pick it back up.. used the gas bike for that.. I weigh ~270 and put 55lbs air in tires.. yep, when truck is down or gas stations are down agfter a storm.. I use that bike.. Takes 15 minutes to grocery store 5 miles away... Now thay have heavy duty bikes for the gas.. engines last to about 6,000 miles. .I would say I got about 500.. or you buy an electric bike all inclusive.. https://electricboardingco.com..../products/ecotric-ha

@Life_N_Times_of_Shane_T_Hanson: Just picked up another 18 pack of Busch Light at the grocery store on my gas bike.. I had a huge backfire in my tahoe about 10 days ago.. reeplaced the timing set because with 330,000 miles it can't hurt.. so then the upper intake manifold called a plenum was split in two with the gaskets blown out.. I am ready to install the new plenum.. I think the distributor caused the problem.. so cap and rotor are first on the list when I get onm the road.. I just hope that backfire did not harm the lower intake gaskets or the injector assembly that resides under that housing.. But the bike sure makes my life better when I need it.. groceries. lottery and beer.. I paid 130 for the engine kit.. called skyhawk.. whaaat? 100 mpg. roughly.. and fun. I went by a slough of cops at an accident investigation.. just smiled.

The rear sprocket for the gas engine just clamps onto your spokes with a backing plate.. it works fine.. https://www.gasbike.net/produc....ts/grubee-skyhawk-gt
