At 3:50; I have stopped trying to have intelligent discussions with people unless they have shown they are mostly in agreement with me already. As you said, debate is dead and it's all argument now. And as Dale Carnegie said, the best way to win an argument is don't have it. I used to use shocking and easily proven facts like a club to jolt the ignorant into thinking, but even that no longer works. If it doesn't confirm their bias, they don't even hear it.
