‘The future that the Maidan fought for has finally begun’… but has it really?

The European Commission President has hailed the legacy of the Maidan protests that Kiev witnessed a decade ago.

Those events ushered in a painful era of regime change and civil war in Ukraine, but Ursula von der Leyen brushed over most of that, instead claiming the country should be proud of how far it has come since 2014.
