Summer of 2016 - Big truck accident on the way to work.

Always "fun" times going I-75/71 through Northern Kentucky, between Walton and Cincinnati. Most Kentuckians don't seem to like using turn signals, and are stupid enough to believe that trucks will stop on a dime, just like in the cartoons. Wonder if this poor guy was playing Mario Bros? Hate to see someone learn the "hard way".

And I make a point of indicating to the truck drivers coming up behind me, what my intentions are, well in advance, by the use of indicators - while they are still a distance behind me, and to get out of their way.

a) IF I am on a single lane kind of country road, or a half way clear 2 lane road, I slow down and get off the road, so they can pass or to make it easy for them time wise, to overtake.

b) I Australia we drive in the left lane, so I watch all the traffic behind me - the truck plus nothing, and then I indicate right, then move into the right lane, apply the brakes and let the truck slide past still in his original lane and pull in behind him....

There are usually tons of long straights and time for observation, along with no other traffice to allow this to be done safely.

It's a reverse overtake....

I can get out of their way, and go around them and then back in behind them, far faster than they can accelerate past me, with their speed limiters... It can make for a reasonably quick manouver, IF you have observed what is coming carefully in each directon before doing it.
