Cats can be very relaxing, cuddling during the day etc.
One caveat : when I was a kid our cat occasionally begged to be let in at the window of my bedroom in the middle of the night, and once inside he kept playing with my hair so I couldn't sleep.
But other than that, they can be quite good companions. Dare I say, often better than certain pussy-bearers...

See when I turn him around so you can see his face - his big golden yellow eyes..... All you can see is a Vanta Black face.....

I have to train him and keep training him, to move out the way, when he is laying on the floor, in the dark.... to get up and move out of the way, because he won't move.... He just lies there until he gets trodden on...

This could be a seriously injurious to fatal problem, when I have to get around quickly and he just lays there like a terd on the nature strip, whether he is asleep or awake and watching me approach, until he gets trodden on....

Because he is impossible to see in the dark.....

He will watch me coming towards him, until I do tread on him....

AND he keeps doing it....

Hence the constant training - a bit of a shove with the foot - a bit of yelling etc... and when he gets up and moves out of the way voluntarily... Sweet words and praises.

There is a lot of "Dad" and not much cats head, to get stood on.....

He has one or two genuinely "dangerous to self" bad habits, being black and impossible to see in the dark - that is not a problem, it's when he sees me coming and just lays there, where I can't see him, and he just refuses to move, until he does get trodden on.....
