I don't know for sure but REALLY good food is easy, fast, and usually cheap and REALLY nutritious....
If you eat good home cooked meals - for like 3 - 6 months and then go to fucking McDonalds...
Blahhh.
I tend to think that the quality of the soil is an important thing - good organic soil with lots of living dirt and compost and worms etc., makes for excellent vegetables and meat.
Where as depleted soils are more or less well watered dust and sand, and they supercharge it with NPK (nitrogen / phosphorus / calcium) fertilisers, which makes for strong coloured fast growing vegetables - that are just water and fertiliser, but without a lot of essential nutrients - which add flavour and health to the food.
