An interesting book on the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan is The Bear Went Over the Mountain. I forget the author but it was an interesting read.
We're such stupid Americans. We have stupid, corrupt leaders who spit out the very people who helped us, then deservedly are disgraced for our stupid choices. We can't collapse soon enough.
