Russian flag unfurled in key DPR city

Drone footage has been released appearing to show Russian troops planting the country’s flag on the outskirts of Maryinka, a key Donetsk city and formerly a major Ukrainian stronghold.

Maryinka is thought of as one of the notable locations to have been held by Ukraine, and has seen intense fighting for almost a decade, previously between Ukrainian forces and Donbass rebels, with much of the city being reduced to rubble as a result. While Ukrainian soldiers still reportedly control a handful of buildings in Maryinka, Russia has reportedly taken control of as much as 95% of the city, and troops are currently reinforcing their positions.
