I bet you have laid awake many nights, thinking "I wonder how they clean all the tyre rubber off runways", just like I wonder where Raa parks his chariot at night, after driving the sun across the sky during the day.

@bigintol03: Actually how much rubber aircraft tyres shed on landing, well I have been contemplating how to spin them up to near ground speed before landing... the huge "burn out" on landing alwas pissed me off... I didn't know that most tyred dump 1/2 a kilo of rubber on every landing.... and I had no idea they had to periodically scrub the runways either... If you lock the brakes and turn the engines up to full power - you can usually get a skid happing the whole length of the runway - before they explode.

Shane, what was/is your job? Do you have an engineering degree or the like?

Kind of yes, no, and yesno. I also find pretty much everything fascinating - and everything is related to everything else. Cleaning the shit stains out of your underwear, cleaning the baked on food on your dishes and brushing the dust from the floor - it's more or less the same as cleaning the rubber off the runways... If you can figure out how to clean a few things around the house you can also figure out how to clean rubber off the runways.
