Pakistani reporter slaps heckling child in the face live on air

Pakistani reporter Maira Hashmi has divided the internet after slapping a young boy during the middle of a piece to camera.

Hashmi herself posted the video to social media, explaining that the boys were harassing the family she was interviewing, and had already been asked to stop. When they continued, she decided she could tolerate no more.

The clip of the slap, which contains none of the context Hashmi later provided, provoked mostly confusion, as it appears at first sight that the reporter just hits a child in the face for no reason. Others remain firmly split, with some praising her for standing up to harassment and disciplining an unruly boy, while others condemned her for resorting to violence against a child.
