Many years ago a single mother told me, rather condescendingly, that "You shouldn't be afraid of marriage just because you might get divorced. And if it happens, you should reflect on how you screwed up to earn it." That all by itself has become the mantra of modern women; and why not? They get the house, the car, the kids, and a big chunk of his money for the rest of his days depending on the alimony laws of the state.
Three generations of watching what happened to our fathers, grandfathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, co-workers, etc. Women destroyed these men and we saw it happen time and again. We've reached a point at which the potential damage of marriage and divorce outweigh the confirmed benefits thereof. Tiny chance of happiness, nearly absolute guarantee of catastrophic outcome--no wonder guys are noping out.
