I realized what this game actually is and that's going to affect me for many years to come.

Let me be clear, I don't cry often, especially during a computer game. But this hit me harder than any of these novels I've ever played.

Man, that hit hard indeed. I can imagine that sometimes people are just tired of the suffering, and long for it to be over. Didn't expect it here, though. Condolances to the Dev.
That being said, there are other endings to this game, where she ends up in a much better situation.

After all the other games (city of broken dreamers, how to fix the future lost academy and more) I'm glad i was never really into this game and if it makes you cry I'm glad I avoided.

Mate, read the text. This isn't some regular character death. I don't want to spoil it, but the dev's daughter died. The game was a way to cope with her suicide. Cece is basically his daughter and him trying to cope with her death through the game. She told him he should write a story before she died. Her memorial is featured in the game.

The scene with the MC holding onto her hand, but unable to stop her from dying represents how powerless the dev felt when his own daughter took her life the same way.
