Kenya's parliament has demanded that British soldiers deployed in the country be subject to local criminal jurisdiction. The demand is a key priority for Kenyan lawmakers ahead of the 2026 review of the military partnership with the UK.

For years, the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) has been at the center of intense public debate over allegations of criminal misconduct and a lack of accountability.
