SHOW her the labels on the fuel pumps, show her the differences between a dab of diesel on the fingers - the oily feel, the colour and the smell.... and the same with petrol...

According to the pumps meter, $2.14 US and 0.693 US gallons of diesel went into the tank...
The hybrids? have 71 liter tanks, the fuel only have 87 liter tanks.
Rounded up slightly there are 3.8 liters per US gallon so 2.7 liters of diesel went into the fuel tank - that is a dilution ratio of 32 liters for every 1 liter of diesel.
These have Sequential Multi Port Injection:

"Sequential fuel injection, also called sequential port fuel injection (SPFI) or timed injection, is a type of multiport injection. … Timed like spark plugs, they spray the fuel immediately before or as their intake valve opens."

Solution - the fuel burns as a timed spray into the intake port, and then it gets sucked into the cylinder - probably at the end of the intake stroke so the combustible charge remains in the head, rather than all through the air.

Fill the tank up with a high octane rating fuel, drive it normally, and IF it starts to knock, use a light throttle and soft acceleration, and then top up the tank every 10 liters or so - if the knocking is a REAL issue - other wise the diesel should just burn up nicely with the rest of the fuel.

Dick head here, doesn't understand fuels..... IF she had of put 50 liters of diesel into an 87 liter tank, that had 20 liters of petrol in it - yeah, I'd be pissy because the diesel would not light up because the compression isn't high enough.

I'd buy 2 x 25 liter plastic jerry cans and a siphon hose and drain the cars tank, and then just refill it with fresh fuel and, after explaining the mix ratio, maybe either donate it to a BIG truck with 4 x 300 liter tanks, and drop one container into that, when he is filling up... or put 2 liters of it back into your own tank with every refill....

I mean diesel is not a great evil... and a TINY little bit can be a good thing....

I mean I fucked up like this once, on a small 18 liter motorcycle tank, and donated it back into the HUGE underground diesel tanks... and refilled my own tank, and that 1/2 a liter or so of diesel remaining in the tank, super lubricated the constant velocity carburettor slides, and the bike ran the absolute best it had ever done.....

AND petrol is a little bit oily.. Who is to say that out of all the dozens of fractions of distillate composing petrol that some 3% to 5% isnt in the diesel range anyway....


I recall from memory that with different mixing ratios, diesel in the finest amounts, will run nicely and be burned proper, a tiny bit more and there will be a faint bit of smoke, and so on and so forth, until there is a lot of smoke, the engine will run poorly and then it will just not run.

Some times some people are NOT just stupid, sometimes they just do not know and have never had to think about some situations.
