Israel raids UNRWA compound in East Jerusalem, removes UN flag
United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned Israel after IDF members forced their way into an compound in East Jerusalem used by the UN's agency for Palestinian refugees.
On Monday, IDF officers and officials from Jerusalem's city council, entered the building and replaced the flag over the compound with an Israeli one.
The nation's authorities claim the site has been empty since January, when UNRWA was ordered to close it over claims the location was 'infested' with Hamas members. The UN strongly denied the allegations.
We spoke with the director of UNRWA Affairs in the West Bank. Roland Friedrich called Israel's actions concerning, highlighting that the compound had already faced repeated attacks.
