I lost respect for the Harley Brand decades ago.

Once upon a time it was a vehicle - to get from A to B.

Then out came all the Harley Davidson T Shirts, zippo lighters, beer coasters, shot glasses, cufflinks, key chains, bandanas, leathers, saddle bags, lapel pins, sun glasses, wallets - and - and - and - the worst of the lot were the sneakers that had Harley Davidson lettered into the tread - to advertise the brand, just like Harvey Firestone did, when he invented a way to spread his tyre brand across all the dirt roads of the world, and invented traction improving tread on the then smooth round tyres of the time, in the process.

It was then, that I lost all respect for their over priced buckets of shit - from their scummy marketing practices.......

Spoke to the owner or the local Harley dealer (in south africa). He said tht the merch was keeping the doors open. Woman are the main customers. The ladies pick and the simps pay. It's a clothing store that also does some motorcycle stuff.

@clivemcd: Any Harley Davidson Dildos - you know for the off road rides?

@clivemcd: I always thought the Yamaha XV 1000 / 1100 / 1200 (?) was a far better motor and gear box combination. The offset cylinders gave better cooling to the rear cylinder, and the 90* cylinder spacing gave a perfect primary balance. Harleys sticking to the forked connecting rod, and in line cylinders - with a 45* spacing - that was unique - kind of - but it was also quite dumb in terms of vibration and cooling the rear cylinder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYi6fbYtrew

@clivemcd: If the XV motors could be brought out in a stronger and thicker walled engine cases and a much stronger crank shaft and bottom end, so the engine was not quite ready for nitro-methanol and nitrous oxide, but it was a VERY strong engine that could run hard and run well for a long time - I'd sure like to get one...
