This does not only happen in IT sector, this is a general thing in all kind of work. Since IT work is mental, it requires closer monitoring than physical jobs to avoid burnout. Been there. Rest is indeed the only remedy. Also, the threshold lowers with age, so it becomes even more important to keep a close watch. A tip : do not waste time with useless entertainment when you can use it for wholesome you-time instead.
