@bigintol03: I will toss in this - that one of the things is that people rattle on and on and on, about the horrors of world war one - and to be sure bad shit happened. But there is also the issue that a lot of guys said "We had the grand adventure of a life time - and I would not have missed it for the world". Hence the ending song was of a robust cheer - and of comradeship, drinking and fucking and whores... and going all over the continent (Europa) ... Seeing people and places and an all expenses paid holiday...

@bigintol03: Without the men who were there, doing the world war one, and these historical records being restored, and enormous amounts of good things and information coming from it, you would never have known it that there are an enormous amount of good things and bad things about everything... And without the good things, the stories of WW1 are incomplete, and they also present a false narrative.... "You had freinds, you looked after each other, you shared what you had, a cup of tea in a quiet moment on a lovely morning on the battle field... singing christmas carols and there was a ton of really good things that went on... in amongst the horror of it all.
