#militarymule #m274a2 Lots of folks see the M274 Mechanical Mule in a parade or at a car show and wonder what it is and where it came from? It all starts when the brass decided to replace the trusty mule with something mechanical. Watch and learn.

This video is a brief history of the M274 series of "Mechanical Mules" used by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps from about 1960 through the mid 1980's. We also do a "walk around" and show you all of the features, operating controls and then take you for a quick spin - well, OK, maybe its not so quick but it is definitely a spin.

I would appreciate having a large mechanical horse--with tall legs, 4x4s would be pale in comparison when in snow or mud.

A 'mule' this is not.

A 'half-Willys' would be more appropriate nomenclature.

I have been contemplating taking some weight off my land rocket. Removing the top half of the car, the hood, and front fenders now looks more appealing.

Time to get my grinder ready, because, who needs a roof, doors, or seatbelts?

It'll be fiiiine.

No half roll-cage. Not even a roll-bar.

Because 'Uncle Sam' cares about soldiers.

Had one of these at Div. Museum 82 ABN at Bragg. Wish we still used them, material could be hauled and they were used to haul wounded as well.

I have only heard about how great these thins where. They came in a crate and you put them together. Same with a jeep and a few years ago someone found them in a warehouse now they sit in a museum. I am sure if you put together oil grease gas they will fire right up.
