Published on 27 Nov 2023 / In News & Politics

A total of 58 hostages have now been released by Hamas, during the 4-day ceasefire period which has seen prisoner swaps. At least 13 Israeli women and children have been freed each day as stated by the deal’s terms, as well as Thai, Polish, Filipino and Russian nationals.
In return, Israel has agreed to free three Palestinian prisoners for every Israeli hostage released. Israel has freed 117 so far, primarily women and children, many of whom had not been charged with any crime.

As the truce deal enters its fourth and final day, more hostages are expected to be released, and hopes remain that the deal could be extended. According to reports, extension talks are currently underway, mediated by Egypt and Qatar.
