Been hearing "the end is near" since the 1970s when I was a child. It never arrives, but the paranoia sells products.

Glenn Beck has made a living scaring young, white mothers with failed predictions because they'll spend money they don't have on crap they don't need to assuage momentary emotional states. And for whatever reason nobody notices when one thing fails and he just starts another with the same rhetoric.
