OK a realisation - this is a grainy lower resolution video....

If you roll it until in the video - to about 2 seconds, and the deer is clearly visible in the video, and about to leap onto the road..... that identifies the deer... and then go backwards in small jumps, you can see the deer, from the very start of the video.....

He had clearly seen it...... because he had perfect vision..... and it was "straight ahead".

The guy has seen it.... which is why the video is edited with the deer in it - at the very start.

So..... He had plenty of time to safely bring the bike to snails pace, long before he got to the deer......

He had the choice and the opportunity to shut the throttle and apply the brakes in a very modest way... BUT he chose NOT to bring the bike to a crawl, he chose to accelerate harder into the corner.

a) Either he is supremely inexperienced around other animals, and their unpredictable ways.... and just kept on riding on towards it.

b) He is a brain dead dunce - he is really fucking stupid.....

So he is NOT responsible for the animals actions (in a sense) but he is responsible for NOT slowing down to jogging speed, well before he got to it..... Which did cause the animal to run for it's life, into his path......

Congratulations Stupid, Congratulations Self Centered, Congratulations Disrespectful - You just won third prize.

See Australia is a BIG place, on an open road like this depending upon time of day, temperature, known wildlife habits... (look up central desert wombats) and how much scrub (road side small trees etc) there was, I might sit on a fair clip, on sections of road like this.

While the roos are easier to see, the wombats are not, especially if there is knee high scrub around....

On roads like this - it's like 20 to 40Kmh... Go ultra slow when the bushes grow right up to the edge of the bitumen...

Yup, you see an animal next to the road, you slow down. Simple as that. You never know what it will do next.

@usr6874038614: Kangaroos can bounce a steady 6 meters or 20', and they can go around 3 meters or 11 feet high.... The Kangaroo has hit the roof and windscreen, and then gone into the cabin..... That's about 9 or so feet off the ground.... https://www.9news.com.au/natio....nal/man-dies-after-k https://imageresizer.static9.n....et.au/gKOwAFdBgXbMWy

@usr6874038614: People have pointed out that moose - there is a whole heap of long legs and the 1000 Lb body just comes straight through the windscreen..... Uhhh make the speed appropriate for the circumstances.

Yup, a moose is one mofo you don't want to risk bumping with. Ask the scandinavians

@usr6874038614: On a particular expedition to Alice Springs, the vehicles alternator, died on the way back, and so we had to get a spare battery or two and run through the night, using only parking lights, to see the edge of the road, it was clear, star light.... and the roads are generally dead straight ... So you could kind of safely track by the white lines in the middle of the road at 100 Kmh or 60 miles an hour.... https://maps.app.goo.gl/cjBdnMaGs2HvuSur6 (have a spin around) but at the time, there were these herds of cattle, that were all black or very dark brown, wandering around through the night.... and on and across the road...... This is the breed - but they were all black, stood about 7 feet high at the shoulder.... and if the idiot driver had of hit one - it would have been a show stopper for a minibus with 16 or 18 people in it... https://www.theland.com.au/ima....ges/transform/v1/cro

@usr6874038614: I would have bought 2 or 3 batteries, and made up some extended leads, and charged up the battery we had... and done the run south, to the nearest spare parts supplier..... during the day light..... My "shit meter" was off the scale during that trip..... The cattle will not move, they will just stand there staring at the oncoming minibus... and our parker lights only show up the white lines a few meters in front.... I mean you only have to hit one square on and half the people in the minibus are dead.....
