@HennessyVenom: Like that big mountain a 0:03 seconds, on the left - so you have a flat area about 500 meters - and much more gently sloping sides.... and solid granite - because although huge chunks sliding away from the side, doesn't happen often, but it also happens a real lot in small bits and pieces, with the annual freeze and thaw cycles... The Vera Rubin Teleoposcope is on a probably extinct volcano - a big pile of ash and cinders... I recall - I can't remember them asking my permission though... and they would not have used explosives, because that would have angered the mountain gods...
