“Surveillance State: Can Democracy Survive?” presented by the ACLU of Tennessee and the Nashville Public Library, was a free, public discussion with Ben Wizner, director of the national ACLU Speech, Privacy and Technology Project and lawyer to National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden. With ACLU-TN executive director Hedy Weinberg, Wizner discussed the NSA’s mass surveillance program and the impact of state-sanctioned spying on the future of privacy, free speech and democracy in a post-Snowden America.

The event was held at the Nashville Public Library Conference Center on Saturday, October 17, 2015.
