I wonder how pulling up the bollard and putting a deep grind around the base, with a angle grinder cutting disk - and then filling the slit with clay and sand - would go?

I wonder how the mechanism operates?

Is it hydraulic or electrical and screw?

@bigintol03: Hmmmmm nooooooo these are meant to stop vehicles... AND not be damaged by them. Hand grenades are made for people - people are soft and made of meat. This are deeply embedded rods of very thick steel, in concrete. IF they are hydraulic, grinding up the base of the shaft, would put sharp edges on it that would cut up the dust wiping rings and the oil seals... and putting clay and sand in the slot, would chew out the seals and the bearing... I saw a heap of videos on bollards, how they are made, and how they work and what happens when they ram fully loaded big trucks into them at a great deal of speed... The truck is either stopped dead, and the load slides forward off the tray, and through the space where the driver used to be, OR they tear out the front wheels, engine, gear box, etc., and just a fucked up chassis lands on the other side... I don't know the specs of these and how they are made etc., and what they are resistant too..... but if I were making them and money was no limit, I'd be looking at these and going, "Yeah that looks about right". Especially the very thick shaft and the DEEP concrete foundations...

@bigintol03: This tech comes from events like the Beiruit Truck Bombing - where loading up a pick up or a truck with a few tons of explosives and just ramming it through the gates and into the building (like the underground car park) and detonating it was so much easier than a civil war kind of an action with tanks and rockets and aircraft.... So the industry of truck stopping barriers and bollards developed... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgyTb6O3gwI
