My take on this that he doesn't want to get into a serious relationship with anyone, he finds, wines, feels them, fucks them then forgets them.
I did the same for years when i was working in the oils fields, when it came to spring breakup in the north , I'd come home hit the bars/discos, find a decent looking sexy woman. Had lots of money, not to bad looking, have a good personality, and a fit body. I'd implement the 4-Fs (that's what we called it back then) then dump them in 6 weeks or so when I was called back to work. I'd do the same when we shutdown for winter freeze up.
They always ask to keep in contact with them , this was in the 70's and 80s, there was no internet then, never took up with the same girl twice. I met and had fun with a lot of girls, learned a lot at how to please women, thankfully I never got one pregnant. I'd settle down till I was in my mid 30s, still wonder today if that was the right thing, damn I miss those days. LOL
