He would've been better off staying in prison. You kind of have to expect that when you're recruited into what's essentially a "prison battalion". I don't mean the Wagner group itself, I mean the individuals who were part of the infiltration group. In that situation those people very much are considered expendable. I bet this was done as an object lesson to anyone else who would consider defecting.
The brutality of both sides is shocking though expected. It is war after all. I feel bad for the noncombatants who'll catch flak from both sides. The most dangerous thing to be in combat is a noncombatant civilian. As a civilian you can't trust either side.
America did the same thing with Germans caught spying off our beaches. A military trial was held, then after they were convicted, they were immediately executed. No moratoriums, or 20yrs waiting on appeals, like today.
You know what amazes me Doggk. Westerners virtue signaling for Ukraine. But if another country successfully invaded the US, UK, or AUS then the Ukrainians wouldn't give a shit. Notably all the Ukraine flag/pride flag type clowns.
Once upon a time traitors were executed on the spot!
