Fix the rust but try to keep the original patina, drop in a MASSIVE carbureted LS backed by a MANUAL trans, and boom you're good to go!

Brother, that’s a parts car. Trying to resurrect it is a money loser that you’d be lucky to get half of what you spent in parts, and will see NOTHING for the hundreds of hours in labor.

@GenerationLESS: I guess there's at least some parts on it that can be put to good use.....

I would not know that, I am mostly an electronics guy, and in electronics, some of us tend to resurrect whatever we can just because (cough cough shango066 cough cough). But yeah, I have heard that some cars would just cost too much money to rescue/restore, which is sad as there are a lot of cool cars out there that could be restored, but oh well.....

@Shin: The reason for the cost is those fuckin TV shows and auctions like Barrett’s and Mechams, where the buyers are investors who have no interest in the cars themselves. So they overpay for status. People at home see this shit and all of a sudden think that rusted out POS Chevelle in their backyard with engine, tranny, front clip, dash or interior is worth $9000 because “It’s a classic. I seen on TV what they go for.” That’s risen the price of parts and everything. Petroleum prices mean that paint will cost you a fast $10-15k in materials alone. It’s really fucked it up for those of us that are in it for the hobby.

@Shin: I have a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo, and a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Hardtop.

G.T.O. Get Tools Out.
Rusted out shell of a 1969, give him $200 for a parts car, at best.

@Leader_Desslok: You’d have to ask Billy since he shot the video. But I’ve worked on and own several old cars; that goat is a basket case deluxe from what I can see in the video.
