I don't know about how old that gun is or what the regulations are about them, but in Australia, they had changed the design from "Pull the trigger = Fire" to you have to press the tip of the barrel of the gun up against the work - for the tip to disengage the trigger lock, and then it would fire the nail.....
Too many people were getting shot by lifting the gun and squeezing the trigger - including apprentices playing cowboys...
By the looks of it, it was the older type of gun that could fire by trigger only with no safety press first.
