I can attest to this within my own family.
Sister has 3 boys. Two of them are complete wrecks and addicted to Pharma candy.
Somehow the other one is high IQ and everything. I believe he took the role of the responsible male of the house at a very young age.
He saved his money and got a desktop PC instead of a newer gaming console. That's a serious sign of intelligence if you ask me. He's about 18 now.
