The BEST girl FRIEND, I ever had was a male to female woman (? = not here to argue the issue) and she was a brilliant friend.... smart too. Knew the history of many languages, a great deal of scientific and computer type issues... and had a wry sense of humor..... It wasn't a sexual sort of a thing, it was friends and cheerful communications.

I think though, that she was the genuine article....

I encouraged her to get into community ball room dancing and she really loved that, and after a year or so she got cancer in her thigh bone and hip.... and then she had to get her leg removed and after 6 months in hospital she died.....

I really miss her...
