Call me old fashioned, but if necessary (I ask questions BEFORE any dating takes place) the ground rules are laid out prior to any dinner date. I had no problem treating to a movie, or a drink, but dinner was NEVER on the first (or even second) date (they usually treated me, so...), unless we were going Dutch. You should never have to twist anyone's arms if they actually like you. Full disclosure, I got more action without even owning a car. I rode a bicycle to work, which was roughly 3 1/2 miles from home. Great exercise.
